Three Weeks Is The Lucky Charm

Posted by Kikey Castillo on August 12, 2010 at 8:09 PM Comments comments (0)

Finally, after 3 weeks of Latina Boot Camp Fitness Training with Jesse Estevez, I’m seeing results!

Some see it sooner some later, like me.  But it’s enough of a difference to put a bounce in my step and encourage me to continue with boot camp.  Not only are my jeans fitting looser, phew, they were getting tight there just a month ago and I was darned if I was going to buy bigger jeans!  I’m stronger, the strength training is fun and wow, I can tell that I’ve toned up and built strength because all the exercises I did at the beginning are so much easier.  But what shocked me the most was when at last night’s boot camp session I was knocking out the sit-ups easily!  I HATE sit ups.And ironically that’s my trouble area LOL. Now, my stomach is getting flatter and I’m whipping out sit-ups like nothing because I’m stronger in my core.

Just three days to the Imagen Awards and I feel fabulous.  I’m gonna rock the red carpet feeling fit, happy and confident.  Thanks Jesse for training Bel Hernandez (Co-host), Lorena Alvarado (Producer) and myself, the Let’s Talk girls!

Getting in shape for the Imagen Awards with Latinas Bodies in Motion Boot Camp workout

Day 1 down, day 2 today. Alright Jesse, I challenge you to actually help me shed a few pounds and tone up in 3 weeks time.  I’ve been going to the gym for years and I’m a natural born athlete,  so can you deliver on the promises of Boot Camp Fitness? Day 1 was a bit of a challenge, but I’m already in decent shape, so it wasn’t that grueling, how will you challenge me today? BRING IT! LOL.

I have to admit that I really enjoyed Jesse Estevez’s bootcamp style of training.  I didn’t get bored, which I often do going to the gym, I had friends to work out with, which I never do at the gym and his drill sergeant training was just right for me…not too mean and not too nice.  Jesse actually pushed me hard but in an encouraging way, I like that!  Tonight he’s giving me my nutrition plan personally customized for me.  I think I just may eat my words; this might actually do the trick at whooping my butt into better shape that it already is.

LET'S TALK "FUNNY": KIKI MELENDEZ' HOT TAMALES

Posted by Marabina Jaimes on April 9, 2010 at 2:10 AM Comments comments (0)

Kikey Castillo and I attended Kiki Melendez' 8th HOT TAMALES Anniversary Show at the famous Improv last night and we laughed our "feathers" off!  We also got a chance to celebrate Kiki Melendez' 29th Birthday...again!...amongst a sold out crowd of distinguished guests, including soap galan, Guy Eckert.

We heard classic Kiki Melendez, suggesting Tiger Woods has had so much woman trouble because he's set his sights on the "tiny" instead of the more "robust" type of woman, i.e.: Latina!  She also answered the question on the minds of most golf enthusiasts, "Was Tiger going to do well at the Masters?"..."Of course, Tiger is famous for getting his balls in holes..."

The line up of diverse guest comedians brought their own wacky morsels to the party.  Starting off the night was 6-year-old Doug Williams, Jr. who was...adorable!

Next, Tiffany Haddish did things with a microphone I've never seen in public!  Nadine Rajabi, the Persian Virgin, cracked us up with a foto of her young face...and unibrow.  Helen Hung, entered "Kung Fu Fighting" and killed!  Darryl Brunson, one of 2 1/2 men in the group, gave his hilarioius impression of bad relationships.  Vanessa Hollingshead had us in stitches, comparing an "intervention" to a really bad surprise party.  And Jeff Garcia literally stole "Billions" of laughs with his naughty set.

The show flew by, but the good news is the Kiki Melendez' HOT TAMALES will be back in May!  For more info, visit www.KikiKiss.com.

     Congrats and Happy Birthday, Kiki!

Salud y Suerte!

INFIDELITY: NOT A BED OF ROSES

Hear the names John Edwards, David Letterman, and Tiger Woods and what do you think?  CHEATERS!  "Awkward and disingenius apology" also comes to mind...

There is no doubt that the discovery of a cheating partner is a huge blow to a woman's concept of trust, respect, and self-esteem.  And without a doubt, when the cheater comes to his senses and realizes what he's about to lose (or how much money this little faux paux is going to cost him) the road to recovery/apology is awkward, to say the least.  However, when infidelity happens in a family, few consider the long lasting impact infidelity has on the children.

We had a chance to interview charming Clinical Psychologist and Domestic Abuse Counselor, Dr. Ana Nogales on LET'S TALK, and we're sure you'll find this upcoming segment interesting, informative, and empowering.  Besides authoring, "Parents Who Cheat", a book we highly recommend, Dr. Nogales has also penned the play, "Don't Call Me Baby" that opens in March at Josefina Lopez's CASA 101.  Hope to see you at the opening!

PLEASE JOIN THE CONVERSATION!  On behalf of my co-hosts, Bel, Dyana, and Kikey, I invite you to talk to us!  LET'S TALK, the show with the Latina POV, wants to hear from you!  Go to LETSTALKSHOW.TV and send us your most outrageous infidelity story (or infidelity apology) for a chance to win a beautiful flower arrangement by Maribel's Garden.

SALUD, SUERTE, Y SANIDAD!

The creation of YOLA, Youth Orchestra ofLos Angeles, will definitely give young minds the means to play andexperience the exhilarating and healing power of music. Please, doyourself and your children a favor and follow this innovative andpassionate Musical genius who literally "lives and breathes" themusicas he is conducting.

His Mother, Solange, andhis father, Oscar, who were beaming as their son was about to take thestage and transport this Los Angeles audience through music. Our newMusic Director said, "We are here because of the music of Beethoven.Through music there is no South America or Central America - there isonly one America! I'm proud to be Latino, but I'm proud to be here withyou because of music!"

Gustavo Dudamel and the LAPhilharmonic, plus the diverse voices of the LAMaster Chorale gave aterrific performance. Beethoven's 9th "Ode to Joy" was the perfectchoice for a perfect full moon night which lit this gathering of 18,000music lovers. A Talk Show Like No Other - Premiere May 12th at 7:30 am on KJLA

Los Angeles, CA – Let’s Talk!, produced by Latin Heat Media makes its broadcast premiere on Thursday, May 12th, 2011 on KJLA. The ground breaking daytime talk show scheduled to air weekly Thursday mornings at its 7:30 AM time slot, gives its audience a fresh, new perspective on universal topics that everyone can relate to.

The English-language talk show featuring four dynamic and opinionated Latinas including Emmy-award winning journalist Naibe Reynoso joins the TV team of hosts; actress-comedienne Dyana Ortelli (Curb Your Enthusiasm); Bel Hernandez, Publisher of Latin Heat, a print and online magazine; and actress and Y-Generation/Green Gal Kikey Castillo is sure to get viewers going first thing in the morning as they prepare to take on the world.

Let’s Talk! has what no other network television talk show has, the English speaking Latina perspective in daytime talk. With the U.S. Latina consumer market at more than 23 million strong and a spending power of $479 billion dollars (Hispanic ventures 2010), it is unclear why this very important consumer group continues to be ignored.

Let’s Talk! television launch will kick-off with a private VIP celebration on May 11th, 2011 at an undisclosed location. Guests will include Let’s Talk! hosts, previous show guests, celebrity friends and sponsors. “We are thrilled to bring our show to the small screen and very excited to celebrate this achievement with everyone that has worked so hard on this project and share this experience with all our friends and supporters,” said Bel Hernandez, Executive Producer of Let’s Talk!.
